Bonseye is a local company with extensive maritime experience and a deep love for local history. With these prerequisites, they have developed products that give visitors insight and knowledge about the Geirangerfjord, Sunnylvsfjord and the mountain farms.
A greener fjord experience
Bonseye's pride is its environmentally friendly RIB boats. The company's technical manager, Frank Bonsaksen, has invested a lot of time in finding the best solutions to reduce fuel consumption.
Catamarans designed in carbon fiber and the hydrofoil principle are important points to achieve this. The most important point to be as green as possible is our fully electric boats. Together with good partners, we have designed and produced three electric boats that are in daily operation during the season.
Real stories narrated by local guides
Our local guides want to be good ambassadors for the area, and with their knowledge and stories from both the past and present, they deliver experiences and genuine guiding. Life on the abandoned mountain farms along the Geirangerfjord could be hard and dangerous, where joys and sorrows often went hand in hand. On our guided tours we try to convey different glimpses of these lives – from wedding parties with abundant food tables to illness and accidents, from haymaking to the challenges of winter.
Preserved memories and forgotten farms
Many of the farms have been restored and can be seen from the fjord, while others have been swept away by avalanches and rock and earth slides, and lost to posterity. But village books, enthusiasts who have met the last inhabitants, and public archives bring the stories to life, and are our sources for real guiding and true stories.
